Upcoming High-Performance Truck from Ram
A new development in the automotive world suggests that the Ram 1500 TRX could return to production as early as next year. This high-performance model is expected to sit above the 1500 RHO and compete directly with the Ford F-150 Raptor R. The truck would presumably feature a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine capable of producing at least 702 horsepower, making it a formidable competitor in the market.
Stellantis recently made headlines by bringing back the V8-powered Ram 1500, which has generated significant interest among consumers. In fact, the company managed to secure over 10,000 orders within just 24 hours of the announcement. This indicates a strong demand for powerful and capable trucks, especially those with performance-oriented features.
The next step for Ram could be the revival of the 1500 TRX, which might return sooner than many expect. According to insiders, an updated version of this high-performance truck is scheduled to go into production in late January 2026. This model is expected to be the first product from the reborn SRT division, led by Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis. While specific details are still limited, the truck is anticipated to build upon the legacy of the 1500 RHO and challenge the Ford F-150 Raptor R.
A Legacy of Power and Performance
The original Ram 1500 TRX was discontinued in 2024 with a Final Edition. Priced at $117,625, this model featured a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivered 702 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. It was paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard four-wheel drive system, allowing it to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.5 seconds, reach a top speed of 118 mph, and complete the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 108 mph.
At the time, Ram highlighted the TRX as the “most powerful mass-produced pickup in its class,” emphasizing its ability to handle extreme conditions. However, the TRX’s reign as the most powerful pickup in its class has been challenged by the 2025 F-150 Raptor R, which features a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine producing 720 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
Despite this, the supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 used in the Ram 1500 TRX has proven to be highly capable of delivering even more power. For instance, in the 2023 Dodge Challenger Hellcat, this engine was rated at 717 hp and 656 lb-ft of torque. The Hellcat Redeye further increased performance to 797 hp, while the SRT Super Stock achieved an impressive 807 hp.
What to Expect from the New TRX
While the specifics of the upcoming TRX remain under wraps, it is likely to be a powerful and capable vehicle that builds on the strengths of its predecessors. The return of the TRX could signal a renewed focus on performance and luxury within the Ram lineup, appealing to enthusiasts who seek both power and style.
With the potential for increased horsepower and torque, the new TRX is expected to offer a compelling alternative to other high-performance trucks in the market. As the automotive industry continues to evolve, the introduction of the TRX could set new benchmarks for performance and capability in the pickup truck segment.
Overall, the anticipation surrounding the Ram 1500 TRX highlights the ongoing demand for powerful and versatile vehicles. Whether it will reclaim its position as the most powerful mass-produced pickup or introduce new innovations remains to be seen. However, one thing is certain: the TRX is poised to make a significant impact in the high-performance truck market.
