Weather Forecast for Bangladesh: Rain and Thunder Showers Expected
Bangladesh is bracing for a period of heavy rain and thunder showers in the coming 24 hours, starting from 9am on Saturday. The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has issued a detailed weather forecast, indicating that all divisions, including Dhaka, will experience varying levels of precipitation.
According to the latest bulletin from the meteorological office, light to moderate rain or thunder showers are expected across most parts of the country. These conditions are likely to be accompanied by temporary gusty winds. In particular, the Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions are anticipated to see more intense rainfall. Meanwhile, Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Mymensingh may also face significant rain, with some areas experiencing moderately heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The monsoon trough, which plays a crucial role in determining weather patterns, is currently running through several regions, including Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and Assam. This trough extends into the southern part of Bangladesh, contributing to the ongoing weather activity.
One of the associated troughs has been identified as extending up to the North Bay, further intensifying the likelihood of rain in the region. The monsoon system remains fairly active over Bangladesh, while it is described as strong over the North Bay area. This suggests that the country could continue to experience prolonged periods of rainfall in the near future.
In terms of temperature changes, the BMD has noted that daytime temperatures may experience a slight decrease due to the persistent cloud cover and rain. However, nighttime temperatures are expected to remain relatively stable, without significant fluctuations.
The impact of the recent rainfall has already been recorded in various parts of the country. On Saturday morning, at 6am, the highest rainfall of 129 meters was measured in Satkhira, highlighting the intensity of the weather system affecting the region.
Residents across the country are advised to stay updated with the latest weather advisories and take necessary precautions to ensure safety during this period of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Authorities may issue additional alerts if conditions worsen, particularly in areas prone to flooding or landslides.
As the monsoon season continues, the BMD will monitor the situation closely and provide further updates to the public. It is essential for individuals and communities to remain vigilant and prepared for potential disruptions caused by the ongoing weather patterns.
