The Moroccan capital is the only African city among 180 worldwide to register a “low” crime rate, setting it apart from cities such as Lagos, Nairobi, and Johannesburg, According to the latest global ranking by the Numbeo platform,


The Numbeo index, widely consulted by tourists, expatriates, and investors, uses user-submitted data to assess both crime and safety levels.


Cities are scored on a scale of 0 to 100, with Rabat comfortably falling into the “low crime” bracket, a significant reputation boost as Morocco seeks to grow its tourism and investment appeal.


In contrast, five South African cities dominate the list of the world’s most dangerous urban areas, with Pietermaritzburg topping the global crime index.
