Queen Camilla Makes Grand Entrance at Wimbledon in Unique Animal Print Gown

The Queen’s Presence at Wimbledon and Royal Events

The Queen has made a notable appearance at Wimbledon for the tenth day of the tennis championships, marking her as the first member of the Royal Family to attend The Championships this year. Her presence at the prestigious event highlights the continued engagement of the monarchy with major cultural and sporting occasions.

For the occasion, Queen Camilla opted for a striking shirt dress that features a print of various animals, including elephants, foxes, monkeys, and an array of birds. This vibrant design appears to be a bespoke creation using fabric from Stragier, featuring the ‘jungle crumble’ pattern. The Queen has previously worn this dress at public events, such as her visit to Australia last year. During her time at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club on Wednesday (9 July), she was seen watching the matches from the stands and also had a personal meeting with Novak Djokovic.

A Significant State Banquet in Windsor

The Queen’s visit to Wimbledon came shortly after a State Banquet held at Windsor Castle on Tuesday (8 July) to commemorate the State Visit of French President Macron and his wife, Brigitte. This marked their first state visit in 17 years. The event was a formal gathering where members of the Royal Family were dressed in full regalia, including tiaras and medals.

Queen Camilla wore the Belgian Sapphire Tiara, accompanied by sapphire earrings and a dramatic sapphire necklace. These pieces were previously owned by the late Queen Elizabeth II, adding a sense of continuity and tradition to the occasion. Alongside the Queen, The King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were among the guests at the royal banquet.

Kate, the Princess of Wales, chose the Lover’s Knot Tiara for the event, a piece that holds sentimental value as it was often worn by the late Princess Diana. Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh, wore her own Wessex Aquamarine Tiara, which was specially designed for her and can also be worn as a necklace. This choice highlighted the personal connections and unique styles of each member of the Royal Family.

The French State Visit and Its Significance

The French State Visit, which lasted three days starting on Tuesday, 8 July, involved President Macron meeting with the Prime Minister and government officials, as well as engaging with members of the Royal Family. This event underscored the strong diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and France, as well as the role of the monarchy in fostering international relations.

Upcoming Championships in Wimbledon

Looking ahead, The Championships 2025 will take place from Monday, 30 June to Sunday, 13 July at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club in Wimbledon, London. This annual event is one of the most anticipated in the tennis calendar, drawing players and spectators from around the world. The Queen’s attendance at the 2024 edition marks another chapter in the long-standing relationship between the monarchy and the sport.
