LAHORE, August 13 – The Punjab administration has once more altered the timetable for summer holidays in educational institutions. As per the most recent announcement, classes for students in grades 1 through 8 will start again on September 1, whereas sessions for grades 9, 10, O/A Levels, and intermediate will commence on August 18.
This modification impacts both public and private educational establishments throughout the province. Punjab’s Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat verified the change, stating it was implemented following discussions with education specialists while considering weather conditions and academic requirements.
Previously, officials had prolonged the summer vacation because of the continuing heatwave, but this latest adjustment divides the return dates to facilitate the transition and focus on the academic calendars of older students.

The official stated that intermediate classes will also restart on August 18, making sure that preparations for the board exams are not postponed. In the meantime, younger students will have extra break time to prevent heat-related issues.
This represents another change in the holiday schedule, leading to varied responses from parents and educational institutions. Nevertheless, authorities maintain that the choice ensures student safety alongside academic progress.
