HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) — Demonstrators gathered in various communities across the Midstate Saturday as protests were held nationwide against the Trump Administration.
In Harrisburg, a large crowd gathered on City Island and marched across the Walnut Street bridge into the city just after 4:30 p.m., making their way to Riverside Park.
“I’m proud that Harrisburg is being represented in one of the 1,800 cities across the country,” said Karen Overly Smith, Cumberland County.
Many carried signs and chanted for change, expressing concerns about the future of democracy.
Demonstrators say the protest comes in response to the administration of President Donald Trump.
“I think the tariffs are particularly bad,” Matthew Manotti, one of the demonstrators in Harrisburg, told abc27 News. “I think in general, just the swallowing, again and again of congressional power by simply diminishing those institutions, and/or filling them with people who are loyal to him. All this seriously concerns me.”
Some, though, dissented.
“I think that that they are in denial of what the country voted for,” Carrie LaVan, of Dauphin County, said of the protestors there.
In Derry Township, At least 200 people filled Chocolate Town Park and the corners of Cocoa and Chocolate in downtown Hershey for another protest.
There, some drivers honked in support as they passed by.
Additional protests were held across Pennsylvania, including in Lancaster, Chambersburg,
Lewisburg,
Bethlehem, Saint Clair, and more.

abc27’s Republican Analyst Chris Nicholas wrote a statement saying, “America works best when more citizens are engaged in public affairs. The crowds at both the protests and the army birthday festivities and parade were good to see.”
