The gathering was organized by the Parenting Special Children charity, an organization dedicated to providing specialist services for children and their families who have SEND. This initiative aims to create a supportive environment where families can connect, learn, and grow together.
The party took place at the Dee Space Community Centre in West Reading and was hosted by Councillor Mamuna Naz. The event featured a range of activities designed to engage children and their families, including arts and crafts, face painting, henna designs, and refreshments. One of the highlights of the day was a special visit from Princess Elsa, a beloved character from the Disney film Frozen, which brought smiles and excitement to the children.
Councillor Naz, representing the Labour Party for Norcot, shared her thoughts on the event. She said: “Zobia Kaleem and I hosted a summer party at Dee space community centre this morning for children with special needs from diverse ethnic communities. The kids, parents, and siblings enjoyed entertainment, face painting, henna designs, art, and refreshments. Despite different backgrounds, they shared experiences and understanding. I’m grateful to all the volunteers and my colleague Cllr Ruth McEwan (Labour, Church) who came to support this event.”
