BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) – With Thanksgiving in the past, Bertie County residents are flipping the switch to something bright for the Christmas season.

The Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland is bringing attendees a festive time with its light attraction. The drive-through display features thousands of lights, hundreds of large inflatables, and festive music, all from the comfort of visitors’ vehicles.

“I think it’s a great way to get cheer out there. Make sure everyone knows what Christmas is actually about,” said attendee Adam Liverman.

The festive drive-through is owned and run by David White. What began in 2020 as just a decorated front lawn has now grown into an attraction that thousands visit every year.

“Cars ride through, we hear a bunch of kids excited and screaming, ‘Look Mom, there’s Santa,’ and the adults come through excited, even pets come through looking at the lights,” White said.

Visitors can enjoy the display at 303 Pocosin Road, with some picking out their favorite inflatables they can’t wait to see again.

“Just keeping traditions alive. Just coming to watch the Christmas lights,” said Ashley Cloe, an attendee.

The wonderland is spreading Christmas cheer beyond the main attractions with a non-perishable food collection for Good Shepherd Food Pantry, a Letters to Heroes station where kids can write notes to first responders, and a toy drive which will be delivered to Maynard Children’s Hospital in Greenville.

“Kids are out there, and they don’t have toys and they ain’t as privileged as everybody else, and it’s good to serve your community, and this is a good way to serve your community,” Liverman said.

Admission is free, but donations are accepted to help expand the display and support the charity drives.

The Pocosin Mini Christmas Wonderland runs until January 2nd and is open Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and Friday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
