The Minister stated that the task force, appointed for a three-year term, has been entrusted with investigating and addressing all forms of violence involving students, academic, and non-academic staff. She assured that the task force will be granted the necessary authority and government support to fulfill its mandate.

During the meeting, task force representatives highlighted several root causes for such incidents, including strained relationships among students, faculty, and administration, toxic peer dynamics, and unhealthy academic pressures such as grade competition and performance-based stress. They stressed that addressing these issues requires more than legal reforms-it calls for systemic cultural change.

Dr. Amarasuriya agreed that while legal frameworks need to be revised, sustainable solutions must also focus on attitude transformation and mental well-being. She called for both short- and long-term strategies, including educational reforms and awareness campaigns.
