London, UK – Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic lead singer of the heavy metal bandBlack Sabbath, was recognized by peersmusicindustry legends on Tuesday after he passed away at the age of 76.
The rebellious vocalist, who received a Parkinson’s disease diagnosis in 2019,passed awayonly a little more than two weeks after performing a last show to a full audience in his hometown of Birmingham, England.

“It is with a sorrow beyond what words can express that we must announce the passing of our cherished Ozzy Osbourne this morning,” stated a family release.
He was with his loved ones and surrounded by affection. We request that everyone respect our family’s privacy during this period.
On Black Sabbath’s official Instagram page, the remaining members shared “Ozzy Forever”.
Messages of remembrance were received for the infamous individual known as the “Prince of Darkness,” who once bit off the head of a bat during a performance.
Music legend Elton John commended Osbourne, calling him “a major pioneer who earned his spot among the greats of rock – a genuine icon.”
“He was also one of the most humorous individuals I’ve ever encountered. I will truly miss him,” John wrote onInstagram. Ronnie Wood, a member of the Rolling Stones, expressed that he was “very sad” upon learning about Osbourne’s passing.
Osbourne was instrumental in pioneering heavy metal– a branch of hard rock – as Black Sabbath achieved significant commercial success during the 1970s and 1980s following their formation in Birmingham in 1968.
