The legal representatives of Olutoyi Estate Development & Services Ltd have submitted a formal petition to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, alleging that Lagos-based socialite Gail Fajembola unlawfully converted and leased out a luxury apartment located at K9-2, Ocean Parade, Banana Island, Lagos.
In the petition dated June 13, 2025, Fajembola was accused of fraudulently taking possession of the property and leasing it to unsuspecting tenants.
The petition stated that the apartment was originally granted to Ms. Fajembola strictly on compassionate grounds.
“It is important to emphasize that Ms. Gail Fajembola was initially permitted to temporarily reside in the apartment strictly on humanitarian grounds based on her pleas of homelessness at the time,” the petition read. “This act of kindness by our client was never intended to confer tenancy rights or authority to sublet.”
The petition further alleged that Fajembola, through her company—GIF Energy Resources Limited—rented out the apartment for over three years, receiving rental income estimated to exceed ₦100 million without the knowledge or approval of the rightful owner.
“Our client has uncovered a sustained fraudulent scheme perpetrated by Ms. Gail Fajembola, who, without any form of consent or authorization, leased out the aforementioned apartment,” the petition stated. “She has continuously collected rent on the said apartment for over three years, despite having no legal right, title or authority over the property. The fraudulent conversion has caused our client significant financial loss and reputational damage.”
The petition, titled “Re: Petition Against Gail Fajembola and GIF Energy Resources Limited for Fraudulent Conversion and Unauthorised Leasing of Apartment K9-2, Ocean Parade, Banana Island, Lagos”, was officially acknowledged by the Office of the Inspector General of Police on June 17, 2025.
Meanwhile, police authorities have confirmed that Ms. Fajembola is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations into the matter.
Officers assured that inquiries are being handled with professionalism and urgency.
