— The Santa Rosa County Economic Development Office is hosting the 2025 Military Base Update later this week.
The event will take place at the Santa Rosa County Auditorium. The doors will open at 7:30 a.m., with the schedule running from 8 a.m. to noon.

According to a press statement from the Northwest Florida Defense Coalition, the forum aims to convene high-ranking military officers and key congressional figures to address the effects of military activities in the area as well as upcoming strategies.
The announcement stated that mission updates from NAS Pensacola, NAS Whiting Field, Hurlburt Field, and Eglin Air Force Base would be shared.
According to the announcement, lawmakers involved in crafting military policies and allocating funds will join as well. This includes U.S. Representatives from Texas, John Carter and Tony Gonzales.
Carter serves as the chairperson of the House Appropriations Subcommittee focused on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs. Gonzales, a member of the House Appropriations Committee and a former Navy serviceman who was stationed in Pensacola at Corry Station, rounds out this description.
