North Somerset Gromit Unleashed Trail: Pubs and Zoo Locations

A Unique Art Experience in Bristol and Beyond

Bristol is set to become a vibrant hub of creativity this summer with the return of the Gromit Unleashed 3 trail. This much-anticipated event, which has been absent for seven years, brings back the beloved characters Wallace and Gromit to the city where they were originally created. The trail features 53 unique sculptures, each inspired by a different theme, offering a delightful journey through the streets and beyond.

The Gromit Unleashed 3 trail extends beyond Bristol’s boundaries, with several locations in North Somerset and other nearby areas. Fans of the iconic duo can explore these spots to discover the charming sculptures that have been placed throughout the region. To make the experience more convenient, organisers at Aardman, the animation house behind the trail, and The Grand Appeal, a children’s hospital charity, recommend using the Gromit Unleashed 3 app. This app provides a helpful map and mini-trail guides, allowing visitors to plan their route efficiently. The app costs £2.49 to download and serves as part of the fundraising efforts, with the sculptures set to be auctioned off once the trail concludes.

Key Locations in North Somerset

For those looking for a quick guide to the North Somerset locations, here is a list of notable spots where you can find the sculptures:

  • Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, Wraxall: Feathers McGraw has undergone a flamboyant transformation at the zoo, known for its African elephants. The ‘Toucan Tango’ sculpture is located just outside Noah’s Ark Farm Shop.

  • Puxton Park, Hewish: This family adventure park now houses Poppy Gromit, designed by DreamWorks and inspired by Poppy from Trolls. Visitors can access the attraction via the farm shop without needing to pay an entry fee.

  • TOUT’S, Main Road, Cleeve: This unique convenience store is home to a hotdog-themed Gromit with a retro diner twist. The sculpture can be found in the courtyard of The Maple, the on-site restaurant.

  • The New Inn, Blagdon: Run by Yeo Valley, this pub features a Wallace bench where visitors can sit and enjoy the view with this cherished character. Wallace has been updated to resemble the BFG.

Additional Locations and Events

The Gromit Unleashed 3 trail officially launched on June 30 and will continue until August 31. Following this event, The Greatest Dog Show on Earth exhibition will take place before all the sculptures are auctioned off to raise funds for The Grand Appeal. Another Somerset location on the list is Cheddar Gorge and Caves, situated on the southern edge of the Mendip Hills.

Visitors are encouraged to share their photos if they spot a Gromit in the wild. By submitting their pictures, they can contribute to a gallery that will showcase the best captures in due course. This interactive aspect adds an extra layer of engagement for participants, making the trail not only an artistic experience but also a community-driven event.
