A man was shot and injured by police after he is said to have driven his vehicle toward officers at a gas station on Sunday afternoon, as reported by the North Las Vegas Police Department.
The event started approximately at 1:54 p.m. as police arrived following calls about an unusual car close to the Maverik gas station located at East Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way.
The vehicle, which was an older model tan or gold Honda Civic with a cover over the windshield, had two adults and three children inside.

As per 911 calls made public by the police department, a person called in and said they saw a woman who seemed to be unconscious inside a vehicle, with young children in the backseat who were “very sweaty,” as well as a dog. The caller identified the woman as a white female with blonde hair tied up in a bun.
A different caller mentioned the vehicle had Arizona license plates and that the man in the driver’s seat was consuming beer, while the woman was leaning over the steering wheel. The caller speculated that the car might have been left parked for a while.
A third individual contacted the 911 operator, stating that gunfire had occurred at the location, with the North Las Vegas Police Department already informed and several units on their way.
The individual who carried out the shooting has been named by the North Las Vegas Police Department as Joshua Vardoulis.
