Night Travel Prohibited on BP Highway for Two Weeks

Nepal, June 20 — Authorities have imposed a 15-day night travel ban on the BP Highway due to increased monsoon-related risks.

The decision was made during a joint meeting of the inter-district security coordination committees of Kavrepalanchowk, Sindhuli, and Ramechhap districts. As per the decision, all vehicles except cargo trucks will be prohibited from traveling the highway from 6:30 PM to 5:00 AM.

Kavrepalanchowk’s Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal stated that the section from Kavre Bhanjyang to Khurkot in Sindhuli has been identified as highly vulnerable, prompting the restriction. “Vehicles heading from Kathmandu will be held at Kavre Bhanjyang, while those heading toward the capital will be stopped at Khurkot,” Dhakal explained.

He further added that the decision was taken due to heavy rainfall washing away road segments, posing a serious risk to travelers. “We are enforcing the decision immediately for public safety,” he said.
