A recent survey measuring how residents of New Orleans might vote in the mayoral election on October 11 suggests that City Council Vice President Helena Moreno is leading in the race.
The survey was carried out by Ronald Faucheux on behalf of the Voice of the People PAC. The political action committee isoperated by IV Waste owner, Sidney Torres.
Six hundred residents of New Orleans were interviewed from July 14 to July 19 using both mobile and landline phones.
As per the survey, 47% of voters indicated they are most inclined to support Moreno, 16% said they would most likely vote for city council member Oliver Thomas, 14% for state Senator Royce Duplessis, and 5% for retired Judge Arthur Hunter.
Fifteen percent of participants remain uncertain.
The survey also indicated that, in comparison to a June sample, Thomas’ support decreased by 6 points after Duplessis joined the race, while Hunter’s numbers fell by 4 points.
The poll’s margin of error was ± 4%.
The mayoral election is the most closely watched contest in the region, featuring 14 contenders.
The voting day is scheduled for October 11.
