NEW MEXICO(KRQE) – A recent report indicated that New Mexico ranked among the worst states for fatal traffic accidents in the previous year. As per the non-profit transportation research organization, Trip, New Mexico had 1.43 traffic deaths per 100 million vehicle miles traveled. This places it as the 10th highest rate in the nation, exceeding the national average of 1.20.
The travel report indicated that traffic fatalities across the country decreased for the third consecutive year last year, although they remain considerably higher than they were a decade ago.
