RICHTON, Miss. (WDAM) – The Richton Public Library is preparing for a summertime packed with learning opportunities that children can utilize both at home and elsewhere.
This year, the library has organized initiatives aimed at assisting children in understanding the intricacies of personal finance.
Currently, new tablets can be checked out for periods of up to two weeks.
The tablets include multiple games centered around managing money and expenses.
Multiple face-to-face meetings will take place every week leading up to June 26.
The games available include ‘Pet Sense,’” explained Shannon Cooley, the librarian at Richton. “This game helps children learn how to properly care for their pets.
“Many children nearby own pets, so they’ll be aware that veterinary visits cost this amount and pet food has this price tag.”
The initial financial session is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.
The summer reading initiative will begin at 11 a.m. on June 3.
