New Expanse Universe Video Game Announced!

Announced at today’s Future Games Show, The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is an upcoming third-person action RPG from the teams at Owlcat Games and Alcon Interactive Group. The studio is mainly known for CRPGs, with Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, so it’ll be interesting to see Owlcat’s take on a more traditional RPG. Based on The Expanse TV show, Osiris Reborn joins 2023’s The Expanse: A Telltale Series, which was an OK adventure, but you really have to be a Camina Drummer fan (who isn’t?) to enjoy it.

As for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, players will start their journey as a simple Pinkwater Security mercenary enjoying shore leave on Eros Station after a successful mission. Naturally, that time of relaxation ends when they’re forced to fight for survival while finding a way to escape an asteroid deathtrap. Surviving that incident is only the beginning, though, because those responsible for the Eros incident won’t leave any loose ends.

From there, players will become the captain of the most advanced ship in the Solar System, forming a crew and preparing to fight back. There will be choices and decisions to be made, and the universe will never tell you if you’re right or wrong. The
trailer
gives off some classic BioWare vibes, almost like a Mass Effect game set in The Expanse universe. As a huge fan of the TV series, I find this announcement my most exciting so far among this year’s summer gaming events. Unfortunately, there might be a bit of a wait, especially since the trailer is showing pre-alpha gameplay footage. It’ll eventually be heading to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
