A New Chapter for Nepathya at Wembley Arena
Twelve years after making a historic mark at London’s Wembley Arena, the Nepali folk-rock band Nepathya is preparing to return to the same iconic stage for another significant performance on August 9. This upcoming concert is being organized by BSK Entertainment and Parcha Production, marking a momentous occasion for the band and their fans.
The event will showcase Nepathya’s signature sound, bringing their unique blend of traditional and modern music to one of the UK’s most celebrated venues. The band first performed at Wembley in August 2013, drawing a crowd of over 7,000 people. That show was recognized as a pivotal moment for Nepali music on the global stage, opening new opportunities for the band.
Kiran Krishna Shrestha, representing Nepalaya, the band’s long-time management team, emphasized the impact of that initial performance. “Wembley opened doors for us globally,” he said. “After that performance, we found it easier to access renowned venues in major cities around the world.”
Lead vocalist Amrit Gurung shared his emotional reflections on the experience from 2013. He described how the cheers, applause, and the sea of phone lights from the large audience left him overwhelmed. “That moment felt like one of the biggest challenges of my life,” he recalled. “But once I found my courage, I gave myself completely to the audience.”
This year’s UK tour will feature a team of 14 members from Nepal, including six musicians and eight technical staff. Gurung will be joined on stage by Dhruva Lama (drums), Subin Shakya (bass guitar), Niraj Gurung (guitar), Shanti Rayamajhi (madal), and Dinesh Raj Regmi (keyboards). Their combined efforts will ensure a memorable performance for the audience.
Shrestha highlighted the importance the band places on this concert, especially considering the growing Nepali diaspora in the UK, which is estimated to be over 100,000. The event follows recent successful tours in Australia and the United States, further solidifying Nepathya’s international presence.
Local organizer Dipendra Lama noted that over 7,000 tickets have already been sold, with continued interest from fans across the UK. “We are doing our best to accommodate fans coming from outside London,” he added, expressing excitement about the growing support for the band.
As the date approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be an unforgettable evening of music and cultural celebration. For Nepathya, this return to Wembley represents not only a personal achievement but also a testament to the enduring power of their art and the strong connection they share with their global fanbase.
