Motorbike Tragedy: Car Crashes into 7 Vehicles, Claiming Mother and Daughter in HCMC

A five-seater Jeep crashed into multiple motorbikes in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday evening, killing a woman and her elderly mother and critically injuring another person.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Kinh Duong Vuong Street, Binh Tan District.

As the vehicle approached the intersection with Sinco Street, it suddenly veered off course, broke through the median strip, and plowed into a line of motorbikes moving on the same direction.

One of the car’s wheels was reportedly thrown nearly 50 meters from the point of impact.

One motorbike was dragged more than 50 meters and became lodged under the vehicle.

The front of the Jeep sustained severe damage, including a broken front axle and a detached wheel.

At least three motorbikes were left heavily damaged, with debris scattered across the road and a 100-meter gouge marking the surface. The concrete base of a sidewalk electrical box was also destroyed.

Two women, a 50-year-old and her 72-year-old mother, died at the scene.

They were riding together on a motorbike. A seriously injured man was taken by local residents to Trieu An Hospital.

A detached wheel from the Jeep was later found in the middle of the road, nearly 50 meters from where the vehicle eventually came to a stop.

Mai Huong, a witness who was driving behind the Jeep, said the car had been speeding before crashing into the motorbikes from behind. “Some people were thrown into the air before landing on the road,” she said.

Approximately seven motorbikes were struck.

Several riders sustained minor injuries and were able to stand up afterward.

Relatives of the deceased said the victims were on their way to visit family members when the crash occurred.

According to witnesses, the car’s male driver, believed to be around 40 years old, and another individual exited the vehicle and fled the scene following the crash.

The collision caused severe traffic congestion in the area.

Police cordoned off a section of the motorbike lane to examine the scene and have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
