Morocco’s annual vehicle production capacity is set to reach 1 million units by the end of 2025, up from the current 700,000, Trade and Industry Minister Ryad Mezzour said Tuesday in Parliament.
The country now produces 70,000 electric vehicles and 120,000 hybrid cars annually, with EV capacity expected to grow to 107,000 by late 2025. Morocco has also begun exporting EV batteries and plans to start producing battery cells by 2026.
Mezzour noted that Morocco will soon rank among the top five global suppliers of fully integrated EV production chains, with a 70% local integration rate.
Despite these advances, car exports declined 7% this year, a drop Mezzour described as temporary and cyclical.
