Widespread Rainfall Expected Across Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting widespread rainfall across several regions of the country, including Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir. This is due to ongoing monsoon currents that continue to affect the area, bringing with them varying levels of precipitation and weather conditions.
Rainfall in Sindh
In Sindh, light to moderate rain combined with strong winds is expected in various districts on July 3rd and 4th. The affected areas include Karachi, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, and Khairpur. Additionally, isolated heavy falls are anticipated in the southeastern and lower parts of the province. Meanwhile, other parts of Sindh will likely remain hot and humid during this period.
The PMD also noted that the intensity of monsoon activity is set to increase from July 5th. A westerly wave is expected to approach the upper parts of the country on July 6th, which may further influence the weather patterns.
Rainfall in Balochistan
Rainfall is anticipated in northeastern and southern Balochistan on July 3rd-4th, with another round of rain expected from July 6th to 8th. These periods of precipitation could lead to increased humidity and potential disruptions in daily activities.
Rainfall in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir
From July 5th to 10th, widespread rain accompanied by wind and thunderstorms is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. Scattered heavy to very heavy rainfall is also predicted during this time. In Gilgit-Baltistan, rain is expected from July 6th to 10th, with occasional breaks in the weather.
Rainfall in Punjab
Punjab, including Islamabad, is likely to experience rain along with wind and thundershowers from July 5th to 10th. Southern Punjab districts such as Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan, and Layyah are forecasted to receive rainfall between July 6th and 8th.
Safety and Preparedness
The PMD has urged residents in affected regions to remain alert, particularly in areas prone to urban flooding and landslides. Heavy rains can disrupt daily life and transportation, making it essential for individuals to take necessary precautions. Staying informed about weather updates and following local advisories can help mitigate the risks associated with these weather conditions.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts and ensure they have emergency supplies ready. Local authorities are also advised to implement measures to manage potential flood situations and ensure public safety. As the monsoon season continues, vigilance and preparedness are key to navigating the challenges posed by unpredictable weather patterns.
