COLUMBIA, Miss. (WDAM) – One local church in Columbia held an event to show the local youth their support system in the community.
The Mind, Body, and Soul Ministry holds this event to teach children and teenagers about leadership and faith.
One church leader says this event is to show the youth that their community will always be there for them.

“When I was younger, we had our parents show us and bring us to church. We just want to let the community know and the young people know that they can come to us,” said Pastor Kenneth Owens with the Mind, Body, and Soul Ministry.
“They can come to their uncles, their fathers, their pastors, their friends, their teachers because we are here for them because it’s too many right now that are locked up or going through the situation in their life, but we are here for them, and we want them to know that,” Owens added.
The church hopes to make next year’s Youth Day in the Park event bigger and better.
