“As I’ve matured, I now appreciate my parents as separate people rather than just seeing them as mom and dad—because my mother has always been deeply devoted to my father throughout her entire life, and I believe it must be incredibly challenging to be married to someone in the music business while not being involved in it yourself,” she explained when talking about her parents.

singer seemed to have sided with her mother in the split, with the star now sharing, “I think I took on some of my mum’s hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.”
Tish filed for divorce from Billy Ray in 2022 after nearly 30 years of marriage and three children together – Miley, 32, Braison, 30, and Noah, 25. Billy Ray also adopted Tish’s two children from her previous marriage, Brandi, 37, and Trace, 36.

Following their separation, Tish tied the knot with Australian actor Dominic Purcell in 2023. Meanwhile, Billy Ray started a new chapter with Australian singer Firerose, getting married in October 2023; however, their marriage ended in divorce after only seven months, concluding in August 2024.
Miley expressed her feelings about witnessing her parents explore new relationships, stating to the publication, “Since my mom is deeply in love with my stepfather, whom I genuinely like, and I also see my father discovering his own joy, I am able to appreciate each of them individually rather than just as a couple,” and emphasized that she’s handling this situation maturely.
“It’s challenging at first since the inner child in you responds quicker than the mature side can step in with, ‘Yes, that’s your father, yet he’s also an individual entitled to find joy and happiness,’” she commented about Billy Ray, who is presently involved with actress and model Liz Hurley.

It comes as Miley
broke her silence
about the years-long family feud for the first time weeks ago on Instagram.
On May 10, the 32-year-old addressed the misunderstanding via her Instagram stories, posting a black image featuring a lengthy description.
“Usually, I stay quiet about gossip, but my relationship with my mom is unbreakable,” she stated following reports that her mother, Tish Cyrus, supposedly unfollowed her on social platforms, sparking discussions about their connection.
