Mike Norvell Stands by Tommy Castellanos After Alabama Criticism

The post Florida State football coach Mike Norvell supports Tommy Castellanos following the Alabama comment appeared first on .

Many excellent games are scheduled for Week 1 of the college football season, and one of the top matchups will feature Alabama traveling to face theFlorida State footballteam. Both squads experienced underwhelming 2024 campaigns, to different extents, and securing a victory in 2025 is vital for each. Florida State’s quarterback Tommy Castellanos, who moved over from Boston College, hasn’t hesitated to discuss the game.

Tommy Castellanos will serve as the starting quarterback for the Florida State football squad, and his initial challenge in this role won’t be simple. Alabama is expected to be a strong team, butCastellanos is certain the Seminoles will secure a victory. He has been making bold statements about the Crimson Tide during the off-season, even going so far as to claim, “they don’t have Nick Saban to rescue them.”

Castellanos has given the Alabama footballteam has plenty of bulletin board material before the huge showdown, and some coaches wouldn’t appreciate that. However, Florida State’s head coachMike Norvell had his QB’s backat ACC Media Days on Wednesday.

“Well, I saw the effort. I have faith in Tommy, I have faith in our football team,” Mike Norvell stated, as reported in an article fromOn3Anyone can step up to a microphone and express their thoughts. Tommy is a very polite young man who has put in the effort, gone through his own path and experiences, and I understand his intentions regarding this. Therefore, I appreciate who he is and what he stands for. That’s what I conveyed to him (after the remarks).

Castellanos clearly shows no fear of facing rivals, which is certainly a positive quality in college football. Norvell is certain that he and the Seminoles can prove their claims.

We’re not here to talk our way into a win; we’re here to work for one,” he added. “And you need to be present every single day and let’s become what we’re capable of. If we do that, the rest will take care of itself. But, it’s similar to what I mentioned in the press conference earlier—I don’t want a football team full of sidekicks waiting to see who will step up. I want players who are ready to step up and be the ones to do it.

If Castellanos is able to appear and defeat the Crimson Tide despite his previous comments, it would be a significant moment for him and the Seminoles.

And when you’re ready to do that and commit to it through actions instead of just words, then you have the opportunity to achieve something truly remarkable,” Norvell added. “And Tommy has put in the effort. From day one he arrived, it’s been a fantastic experience, and I appreciate his dedication to his teammates and his confidence in what they can accomplish and what we can become.

Tommy Castellanos and the Florida State football squad will host Alabama at Doak Campbell Stadium on August 30th at 3:30 PM Eastern Time, with the match broadcasted on ESPN. The Crimson Tide are currently listed as 13-point favorites.
