Los Angeles Dodgers’ infielder Miguel Rojas left Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Royals after getting hit on his left hand while attempting to steal second base in the top of the seventh inning.
Rojas was 2-2 in the game with two singles and a walk when he exited and was replaced by Hyeseong Kim.
After the game, Rojas said he jammed his finger, and it was pretty sore and swollen. He came out of the game cause he thought it was the smart decision to ice it and calm the inflammation. But he thinks he avoided major injury or a trip to the injured list.
Dave Roberts announced today that Rojas will get an X-ray on his left hand. Rojas doesn’t believe the injury will cause him to miss much time, but the Dodgers will play it safe.
Rojas is playing in his 12th season in MLB and has spent the last three years with the Dodgers. The veteran is hitting .250 this season across 108 at-bats.
However, this month, Rojas has been on fire. He’s hitting .348 in June with a couple of home runs and four RBI.
Rojas isn’t an everyday starter for the Dodgers, but Roberts said he’ll continue to get at-bats against left-handed pitching.
“I think given our roster I think I am going to – to some point – run some right-handed hitters out there, namely Kike’ (Hernandez) and Miggy Ro (Miguel Rojas), to give them opportunities until I don’t,” Roberts said (h/t

In Rojas’ absence, expect Kim to get some looks at second base for the Dodgers, another non-everyday starter who has performed well for Los Angeles this season.
