Building on its successful performance with the C43 and GLC43, AMG introduces the Edition R package for its smaller models.
Mercedes-Benz Australia is set to introduce new Edition R variants of the A35 and CLA35., and R+ edition versions of the A45 hatchback and CLA45.
Primarily centered on aesthetic improvements, both the Edition R and Edition R+ incorporate additional features that are typically optional into their respective models.
The A35 and CLA35Edition R models feature 19-inch AMG black alloy wheels, red brake calipers, faux leather and microfibre interior with red stitching, and aluminium trip panels.
Both feature an AMG Aerodynamics package, comprising a bigger front splitter, front bumper flaps, and a rear diffuser blade coated in high-gloss black.

The A35 Edition R hatch features a rear wing, whereas the A-Class sedan and CLA come with a low-profile rear lip spoiler.
The mechanical setup is unchanged, with the A35 and CLA35 Edition R featuring a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 225kW and 400Nm. An eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive come as standard.
The A35 Edition R hatchback has a starting price of $86,200, the A35 Edition R sedan begins at $87,200, and the CLA45 Edition R starts from $97,700, all excluding on-road expenses.

In comparison to standard models, the A35 Edition R hatchback is $3500 less expensive than a regular A35, although the A35 sedan and CLA35 maintain the same cost.
The A45 S hatch and CLA45 S Edition R enhancements include the features introduced in the 35 models, such as AMG performance seats for both the A45 and CLA45, along with a raised rear spoiler on the CLA45.
Once more, AMG has kept the train unchanged with 310kW and 500Nm for a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine, eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.

The R+ package offers the base price of an A45 S hatch at $122,500 and the CLA45 at $129,300, excluding road fees.
These rates are comparable to the standard A45 and CLA45 models.
The R Edition and R+ Plus models can be ordered immediately from Mercedes-Benz dealers across Australia.
