Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 Coupe Launches in India on August 12: What You Need to Know

Launch Details and Market Positioning

Mercedes-Benz India has officially announced the launch of the highly anticipated AMG CLE 53 4Matic+ Coupe on August 12, 2025. This model was first introduced globally in December 2024 as a successor to both the C-Class and E-Class coupes. The CLE 53 4Matic+ Coupe will be the second CLE model to arrive in India, following the CLE 300 Cabriolet, which was launched in August of the previous year. This new addition underscores Mercedes-Benz’s continued efforts to expand its AMG performance lineup in the Indian market.

Design and Aesthetic Appeal

The AMG CLE 53 Coupe features a design that emphasizes performance and style. At the front, it showcases the signature AMG Panamericana grille with vertical slats and aggressive LED headlights. The bumper is more sporty than the standard CLE Cabriolet, featuring a large air dam for enhanced visual appeal.

From the sides, flared fenders and air exits behind the front wheel arches contribute to its dynamic stance. Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloy wheels, with optional 20-inch wheels available for those seeking a more luxurious look. At the rear, the coupe stands out with a wide stance, a unified tail-lamp cluster, quad exhaust tips, a gloss-black diffuser, and air exits on both sides, giving it a striking presence on the road.

Interior and Technology Features

Inside the AMG CLE 53 Coupe, the cabin layout is similar to the CLE Cabriolet but includes several AMG-specific enhancements. These include an AMG 3-spoke steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara and leather with red stitching, along with additional touch controls. The interior is finished in an all-black color scheme with carbon-fibre accents, offering a stark contrast to the tan interior found in the Cabriolet version.

The technology and comfort features are equally impressive. The vehicle comes equipped with an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 64-color ambient lighting, a Burmester sound system, electrically adjustable seats with memory, wireless charging, and a heads-up display. These features ensure a high level of comfort and connectivity for drivers and passengers alike.

Engine and Performance Specifications

Under the hood, the AMG CLE 53 Coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-6 engine combined with a 48V mild-hybrid system. This powerful setup delivers 449 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque, with an additional 40 Nm available in Overboost mode. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via a 9-speed dual-clutch transmission using Mercedes-AMG’s 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.

Performance figures are equally impressive, with a claimed 0 to 100 kmph time of just 4.2 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 kmph, but this can be increased to 270 kmph with the optional AMG Performance Package, providing an exhilarating driving experience.

Pricing and Competitive Landscape

The AMG CLE 53 Coupe is expected to be priced higher than the outgoing C-Class Coupe in India. Its primary competitors in the Indian market will be the BMW M2 and Audi RS5, given their comparable ex-showroom price brackets. This positioning highlights the coupe’s status as a premium performance vehicle, appealing to enthusiasts looking for both style and power.
