Melcom donates medical fridges to 25 facilities for better healthcare

Accra, August 12, GNA – The Melcom Group of Companies, a prominent retail business in Ghana, presented medical refrigerators valued at $125,000 to 25 healthcare centers across the nation on Tuesday. This donation aims to enhance the storage of medicines, vaccines, and blood, thereby strengthening healthcare services.

The contribution adds up to 70 medical refrigerators supplied by the company to different healthcare centers in Ghana under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program that began in 2013.

Among the recipients were the Greater Accra Regional Hospital, Ga East Municipal Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Tema General Hospital, and the Ledzokuku-Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA) Hospital.

The Ho Teaching Hospital, Manhyia District Hospital located in the Ashanti Region, the Holy Family Hospital in the Bono Region, Bebiani Government Hospital, and Sefwi Wiaso Municipal Hospital, both situated in the Western North region, also received the refrigerators.

Mr. Ramesh Sadhwani, the Managing Director of Melcom Group, stated that the action highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to promoting high-quality healthcare services in Ghana, and he expressed confidence that the refrigerators would enhance blood storage at the appropriate temperatures.

“A robust population is a crucial foundation for a sustainable business, which highlights Melcom’s commitment to launching and backing numerous health programs to support the nation’s survival,” he stated.

We are pleased to note that in the past decade, our foundation has supported programs resulting in around 12,000 pints of blood being donated. We remain committed to collaborating with partners to increase awareness and assistance for medical services.

Mr. Francis Sam, the General Manager of Melcom Group of Companies, emphasized the company’s commitment to health and education via its corporate social responsibility initiatives.

“Our contribution of medical equipment began in 2013 via our endowment fund. We hold the view that access to quality healthcare is crucial, and we are dedicated to backing projects that create a positive impact on individuals’ lives,” he said.

Madam Gloria Bentum, the Public Relations Officer at Ga East Municipal Hospital, spoke on behalf of those who received the medical refrigerators, thanking the company for its contribution to improving healthcare standards.

“This action represents a contribution to high-quality medical care, which will significantly help in preserving lives. We thank Melcom Group for their dedication to aiding our hospital and improving our capacity to deliver vital services,” she stated.
