Gomoa Brofoyedru (C/R), June 04, GNA-More than 1,000 residents of Gomoa Brofoyedru and beyond, including school children and teachers have benefited from dental and health screening exercise organised by Marigold Foundation.

The collaborators are Healing and Hearts, Rotary club of Accra Labone, Rotary club of Dallas in Texas US and many others.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview after the exercise, Mrs Justina Marigold Assan, the Founder of Marigold Foundation, said it was founded in 2011 and had since been organising dental and health screening annually for adults and school children.

Mrs Assan who is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Foundation said Ghanaians generally, hardly visited health facilities for dental checks and other health related problems, hence many sicknesses being contracted due to that negative lifestyle.

She expressed concern that most health facilities had no dental clinics, making it difficult for those desiring to check their dental health status regularly to do so.

To ensure that the people had access to those services, the Foundation decided to bring dental doctors to their doorsteps to reduce travelling and the cost of treatment, Mrs Assan stated.

She called on parents to ensure that their children brushed their teeth, especially in the morning before going to school to have odour free gums and boost their confidence among their peers.

The CEO said the Foundation had earlier, embarked on dental and health screening exercises in three communities; Agona Kwamang in the Agona West, Brofoyedru in the Gomoa Central and Senya Bereku in the Awutu- Senya-West Districts of the Central region.

She said the attendance was massive in all three communities visited, adding that the Foundation would organise similar exercises in different communities before the end of the year.

This, she said would make people enjoy good dental services at their doorsteps for free and save the costs transport.

Nana Ama Amponsa , Queen mother of Gomoa Brofoyedru, expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Marigold Foundation for the exercise which had served many people with dental problems.

She called on the CEO of Marigold Foundation and its collaborators to make the exercise a permanent feature to enable more people of Gomoa Brofoyedru and beyond to benefit from it.

Beneficiaries, including teachers, school children and chiefs thanked the Marigold Foundation for the exercise and appealed to them to make the exercise regular to enhance quality dental health.
