A man was justified in killing his father in North Birmingham on Tuesday, as stated by the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.
Willie James Powell, 36, was shot around 3 p.m. in the 3800 block of 4th Street West, as reported by the Birmingham Police Department. This location is within the Hooper City area, close to the Hooper City Park Rec Center.
Once the officers reached the location, Powell was transported to UAB Hospital, where he passed away within an hour. Authorities state that he was shot by his son after a disagreement.
Following the police sharing their results, the district attorney’s office determined the actions were justified.
