On May 31, actor Humayun Saeed disclosed information about his forthcoming romantic comedy movie titled “Love Guru.” In promotional events recently, he mentioned that this venture turned out to be the priciest one for him yet, with an expenditure of more than PKR 250 million (equivalent to 25 crores). This makes it stand as his highest-budgeted project till now.
During an interview with Something Hot along with Mahira Khan, Humayun voiced his belief that Love Guru would generate twice the income he originally anticipated. He pointed out that a considerable part of the filming was done in the UK, which helped increase the production costs significantly.
Humayun also talked about the developing Pakistani cinema sector, commending the government’s recent backing schemes aimed at assisting filmmakers, particularly those who are small-scale producers, by providing them with financial and operational aid. Although he hasn’t benefited from this support himself just yet, he stays optimistic that upcoming ventures might profit from these measures.
The actor shared that following a break of two years, he aims to create at least one movie annually going ahead. Should he manage to produce two movies within a single year, he will act in one and have a different leading man for the other. In case only one film gets produced, he will take up the starring role himself.
Looking back at his past achievements, Humayun noted that even with a restricted number of movie theaters in Pakistan, his film “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2” managed to rake in more than PKR 700 million (70 crore). He anticipates that “Love Guru” will exceed this impressive sum. Additionally, he highlighted the remarkable performance of “The Legend of Maula Jatt,” which generated around PKR 2.5 billion (250 crore)—setting an unprecedented benchmark within Pakistani cinema.
Humayun commended Pakistani viewers for their zeal, observing that enthusiasts frequently see movies several times over, thereby greatly enhancing the financial success of domestic films at the box office.
