Growing up as the 11th of 12 siblings in suburban Philadelphia, McClatchy’s childhood was shaped by a shared passion for local sports. The siblings were close in age and often spent their time together immersed in the world of Philadelphia teams. They didn’t just watch games—they lived them.

McClatchy recalls how they would start a game, only to be interrupted by the urge to play. “Halfway through a Phillies game, we’d be out in the yard playing baseball,” he says. “Halfway through an Eagles game, we’d be tackling each other in the yard.” Whether it was the Flyers, the Sixers, or any other team, the excitement of the game was too much to resist.

This love for sports wasn’t just a passing interest—it was a way of life. When they played, they would shout the names of their favorite athletes. “When you’re hitting a shot, you’re Dr. J. When you’re saving a goal, you’re Bernie Parent. You’re like, ‘PARENT!’” McClatchy remembers.

McClatchy is also known for organizing Game Day gatherings during football season. These events bring together dozens of extended family members, creating a sense of community and shared experience. At Phillies games, they often tailgate before sitting in the rooftop bleacher seats near the home run Liberty Bell, making the most of every moment.
