A Year of Achievement and Growth in Lee Schools
The school year has come to a close, marking the end of an extraordinary journey filled with accomplishments, growth, and community spirit. Across the district, students, teachers, staff, and families have reached remarkable milestones together, setting the stage for continued success in the years ahead.
Celebrating the Class of 2025
This year’s graduating class, the Class of 2025, stands as a testament to dedication and excellence. Over 6,000 students from our 15 high schools have walked across the stage, each one representing a unique story of perseverance and passion. These graduates have excelled in academics, athletics, the arts, JROTC, clubs, and community service, showcasing not only their talents but also their determination and heart. As they move on to college or trade schools, join the workforce, enlist in the military, or start their own businesses, they carry with them more than just diplomas — they carry the promise of future success. Collectively, they’ve earned over $70 million in scholarships, a figure that reflects their hard work and potential. But beyond the numbers, it’s their character, leadership, and drive that truly set them apart. As Dr. Seuss once wrote, “You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!” And these students are indeed heading to great places.

Recognizing Excellence Across the District
The achievements of the Class of 2025 are just one part of a broader narrative of success throughout the district. Students have made their mark in various competitions and events, earning top honors at the State Science and Engineering Fair and the Edison Awards AI Challenge. Our athletes have brought home state championships in wrestling, weightlifting, and track and field, while teams in baseball and soccer made strong runs toward state titles. The arts programs have also shone brightly, with students receiving recognition in visual art, film and TV production, music, and drama. JROTC cadets have demonstrated excellence in national marksmanship and drill competitions, further highlighting the diverse talents within our schools.
Additionally, we celebrated students who have committed to military service during our annual signing ceremony. Their leadership and sense of duty reflect the values instilled in our community. Many of our schools and teachers were also honored with Marzano High Reliability certification, recognizing their commitment to excellence in teaching and learning.
Building for the Future
This year has also been marked by significant progress in infrastructure and planning for the future. Several schools are undergoing major renovations and expansions to meet the needs of our growing community. Bonita Springs Elementary and Cypress Lake Middle are being rebuilt, while Bayshore Elementary and James Stephens Elementary are expanding into K–8 schools. Hector A. Cafferata Jr. in Cape Coral, which was damaged during Hurricane Ian, is being rebuilt and expanded as a new K–8 campus. These projects ensure that students and families continue to have access to quality education and facilities that support their growth.

Enhancing Safety and Education Opportunities
We launched the Safe Start Initiative this year, addressing a critical issue: the nearly 8,000 students arriving late to school by bus each day. By adjusting start times and transportation logistics, we’ve improved punctuality and added valuable instructional time to the school day, helping to boost academic success. We also continued to invest in school safety through essential security upgrades, made possible by state funding supported by Governor DeSantis and the Florida Legislature.
In addition, workforce education saw significant investment. Cape Coral Technical College is expanding physically and adding six high-demand programs. An Associate Superintendent for Career and Technical Education has been appointed to strengthen career pathways and ensure students graduate with the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce.
Engaging the Community
Community engagement remained a priority this year. School Board members and Superintendent Carlin held district town halls where families could receive updates, ask questions, and offer feedback. These conversations helped shape a school system that reflects the values and needs of our community.
As we look back on this year, we extend our deepest gratitude to students, teachers, staff, and families for their dedication and belief in what’s possible. Wishing you all a safe, happy, and well-deserved summer break!
