In a breakthrough against cult-related violence, operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested three suspected notorious cultists during an intelligence-led operation in the Owode-Ikorodu area of the state.
The suspects Adenuga Tosin, Jesutofunmi Ezekiel, and Adeniji Juwon were found in possession of a locally made pistol and six live cartridges.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement on Sunday, disclosed that the arrests followed a credible tip-off that prompted a swift and coordinated response from one of the Command’s tactical units.
“The suspects were arrested with a firearm and live ammunition. Preliminary investigations reveal that they are members of a cult group involved in various violent crimes across the state,” Hundeyin said in a text response to our correspondent.
He added that further findings indicated the trio played active roles in facilitating the illegal movement and distribution of firearms across Lagos, thereby posing a significant threat to public safety.

gathered that efforts are currently underway to track down other members of the cult group believed to be on the run, with the police assuring that upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspects would be charged in court in accordance with the law.
Reaffirming the command’s commitment to stamping out criminality, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, was said to have called on residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement efforts.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance stance on cultism and all forms of criminal activities. Residents are encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movement or activity in their communities,” the statement quoted Jimoh to have said.
The police urged the public to continue collaborating with security agencies to maintain peace and order across the state.
The arrests come amid growing concerns over cult violence and illegal arms circulation in some parts of Lagos.
