Kyle Launches Two Major Roadway Upgrades

Major Roadway Improvements Begin in Kyle

The City of Kyle recently celebrated the start of two significant roadway improvement projects as part of its 2022 Road Bond Program. These initiatives aim to enhance transportation infrastructure and support the city’s ongoing growth.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place on Thursday morning, marking the official beginning of construction for two key projects: the extension of Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway and the widening of Bebee Road. The event brought together city leaders, project partners, and community members to recognize the importance of these developments.

These projects are designed to improve east-west connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and accommodate the increasing population and development in the area. The city emphasized that these improvements will play a crucial role in supporting Kyle’s rapid growth and ensuring efficient movement of residents and businesses.

Kohlers Crossing to Seton Parkway Project

The first major project, known as the Kohlers to Seton Project, has an estimated cost of $66.1 million and is scheduled to be completed in two segments. The initial phase will involve constructing 1.07 miles of new road, aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving flow. This segment is expected to be completed in the near future.

The second segment, set to begin in the fall of 2027, will connect Kohlers Crossing on the east side of I-35 by constructing a road crossing under the highway. This will require raising the highway to accommodate the new connection, enhancing accessibility and reducing travel times for commuters.

Bebee Road Expansion

The second project, the Bebee Road Project, is valued at approximately $66.7 million and will also be implemented in two phases. The first segment involves the new construction and widening of a one-mile stretch of a four-lane minor arterial road. This section will extend from the IH 35 northbound frontage road to Sunlight Boulevard.

Key features of this segment include a two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Bebee and Kohlers, as well as acceleration and deceleration lanes at the junction of the I-35 frontage road and Bebee Road. The project will eventually connect the reconstructed eastern segment of Bebee Road between Sunlight Boulevard and east of Green Pastures Road. Construction on this eastern segment is planned to begin in the summer of 2027.

Progress Under the 2022 Road Bond Program

These two projects represent the second and third initiatives under the 2022 Kyle Road Bond Program. The first project, the extension of Marketplace Avenue, was recently completed and officially opened to the public following a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on July 31 at 6:30 p.m.

The ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure reflect the city’s commitment to addressing the needs of its growing population. By investing in these projects, Kyle is taking important steps toward creating a more connected and efficient transportation network that supports both current and future residents.

As the city continues to develop, these roadway improvements will play a vital role in maintaining smooth traffic flow and enhancing the quality of life for all who live and work in the area.
