A Special Celebration for Military Members and Veterans
Kyle Busch, Richard Childress, and Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen kicked off the Dover weekend with a special event that honored active military members and veterans. The driver of the No. 8 Chevrolet and the championship-winning team owner spent a meaningful Friday at Dover Air Force Base. They engaged with more than 200 military members, their families, and other dignitaries, offering them a catered lunch from Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen. This event marked the continuation of a partnership that began in 2020.
The visit to Dover Air Force Base was not just about a meal and a meet-and-greet. Richard Childress Racing also unveiled a red, white, and blue patriotic Cheddar’s scheme that Busch will showcase during the race weekend. This special design is aimed at celebrating the service of military members and veterans.
Honoring Heroes with a Patriotic Paint Scheme
The Cheddar’s scheme features the names of veterans on the trunk lid, with 67 of them being employees of Cheddar’s. This gesture highlights the deep connection between the racing community and those who have served the country.
“Thank you to all of our U.S. military families, especially the folks at Dover Air Force Base and the 67 Cheddar’s employees who are featured on the No. 8 car this weekend,” Busch said in a press release. “Fans across the country have made Cheddar’s a part of their race day traditions, including many who have served our country. It means a lot to be able to represent them on the track with a special patriotic paint scheme.”
Richard Childress added, “What an honor to spend the day with the men and women at Dover Air Force Base. These service members are true heroes. Everyone at RCR is proud to partner with Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen on a patriotic paint scheme designed to honor those who served.”
Kyle Busch’s Strong Performance at Dover
Busch has had a successful history at Dover, where he has competed on the 1-mile concrete track. He will have the opportunity to showcase the special scheme on both Saturday and Sunday, based on his previous performances at the track. In the last two races there, he started from the pole and led a combined 59 laps, finishing fourth last season.
Over the course of his career, Busch has consistently performed well at Dover. In 36 career starts, he has recorded 22 top-10 finishes and 14 top-fives while leading 1,375 laps. He has won at Dover three times, in 2008, 2010, and 2017.
Race Schedule and Fan Engagement
The special scheme will make its debut during practice and qualifying on Saturday. These sessions will begin at 1:35 p.m. ET (truTV and Max). The Cup Series race will take place on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET (TNT, truTV, and Max).
This event not only celebrates the achievements of Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing but also recognizes the contributions of military members and veterans. Through their partnership with Cheddar’s Scratch Kitchen, they have created a meaningful way to honor those who have served and continue to inspire fans across the country.
