The KRA initiated a significant hiring campaign aimed at filling multiple positions, such as commissioners, assistant commissioners, and managerial roles.
Why did KRA initiate a hiring campaign?
The officials stated that the hiring initiative is designed to create a competent and flexible workforce capable of addressing changing global needs and enhancing support for taxpayers.
“This action is in line with the KRA’s 9th Corporate Plan within its Key Result Areas, aiming to boost internal capabilities by drawing in high-quality personnel at every level of the organization,” stated KRA in a statement viewed by.co.ke.

What positions are available in KRA’s hiring initiative?
The official stated that the hiring initiative includes various positions, spanning from leadership to day-to-day roles.
Among the available positions are three commissioner posts and 12 deputy commissioner roles, along with various other managerial positions.
“To promote diversity and increase involvement, KRA will re-advertise the Deputy Commissioner roles along with one Commissioner position,” the statement noted in part.
KRA highlighted its dedication to diversity, inclusion, and competitiveness in the recruitment process for public service positions.
The tax official stated that diversification and improved expertise will aid its mission to promote national growth via efficient tax collection.
KRA mentioned that the hiring program follows a review of the organizational structure, designed to meet present and upcoming institutional requirements by improving workforce adaptability, operational effectiveness, and promoting a culture of ongoing learning and creativity.
The upcoming workforce will be capable of handling the intricacies of tax management, quickly address new issues, and regularly provide top-notch services.

KRA’s job vacancies
In June 2025, the KRA launched a hiring initiative for senior positions, encouraging candidates to apply for roles of commissioner and deputy commissioner within major departments.
The tax authority sought applications for 15 available roles covering key areas such as customs, internal taxes, digital change, intelligence, and risk assessment.
The KRA requested applicants to submit multiple clearance documents, such as a valid certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), clearance certificates from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), and a valid KRA tax compliance certificate.
