The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has advertised open job vacancies for Kenyans in June 2025.
JSC invited applications from all qualified and interested candidates for the positions of judges and magistrates.
How many job positions are available at JSC
The commission invited applications for the following 150 open positions:
- Judge of the Court of Appeal – 15 posts
- Judge of the High Court – 20 posts
- Judge of the Environment and Land Court – 10 posts
- Resident Magistrate – 60 posts
- Resident Kadhi – 5 posts
- Resident Magistrate/Adjudicator Small Claims Court – 40 posts
What are the application requirements?
JSC said all qualified and interested candidates should submit their applications on or before June 30, 2025.
Candidates should also visit JSC’s recruitment portal to complete their applications.
According to a Gazette notice published by Chief Justice Martha Koome, the following are the requirements for the positions:
- Candidates should possess a law degree from an accredited university or have served as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya
- Should have at least 10 years of experience as a judge in a super court, or 10 years of experience as a renowned scholar or attorney
- The job holder must satisfy the standards of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity and possess a high degree of moral character, integrity, and impartiality.
- They should also exhibit a high level of professionalism, impartiality, communication skills, temperament, and judgment.
