Kenyan Firm Hires Gen-Z Woman Behind Viral Protest Farewell Post

  • A property company is looking for Kabei, a TikTok user whose goodbye message went viral ahead of the June 25 protests

  • The young lady highlighted the harsh reality of going to school and pursuing education in the hope of securing a job afterward

  • However, despite being a graduate, she remained jobless and hopeless—until a company offered to employ her

A Kenyan company has come to the rescue of the desperate young woman following her emotional viral video on TikTok.

TikTok user Kabei touched hearts with a heartfelt farewell message ahead of the Wednesday, June 25 protests that took place nationwide.

Kabei’s take on education in viral video

She had joined several Kenyans online in sending out final wishes as they prepared to attend the highly anticipated demonstrations.

Her piercing message captured the attention of many, with viewers deeply moved by the pain expressed in the heartbreaking video.

“This is the last thing I want to say before I die tomorrow. They told us to go to school because education is the key to success. We sat in classes with no windows. We studied in torn uniforms and on empty stomachs. We believed them, and our parents believed them too. They gave everything—sold cows, missed meals, broke their backs—just to see us wear that graduation gown. And years later, here I am: graduated, jobless, hopeless,” she said in part of her video.

Kabei urged not to give up

The harsh reality she described resonated with many and caught the attention of a real estate company that deals in land sales.

They expressed their willingness to offer Kabei a job and give her a second chance after her emotional experience.

“You do not need to give up. We are looking for you and ready to give you a job. Kindly DM me,” a realtor said.

Netizens react to Kabei’s farewell video

The realtor’s gesture was warmly received by netizens, who praised the company for trying to make a meaningful difference in the lives of Kenyans.

Kabei’s video also drew varied reactions in the comments section:

Negus Aniga:

“Our government is seriously stealing from you guys. I’m in the USA, and there’s no way our country should be this backwards.”

Joel Bundi 🇰🇪🇺🇸:

“You’ve reminded me how far I have come 🙏. It’s very sad! I couldn’t be a soldier in my own country because of tribalism, yet I am valued more in a foreign country than at home!”*

OUTA ROCHE TESLA:

“Na kama unapanga kukaa kwa nyumba kesho, jua tu umesaliti Kenya 🇰🇪 tayari 🥺. Your presence counts. Numbers matter. This war is for all Kenyans. Hakuna ukabila, hakuna ubaguzi wowote. #OccupyStateHouse”

The Armature254 🇰🇪:

“I cried watching this. We have millions of graduates without jobs out here. Our country collects revenue that can sustain eight East African countries, yet where does that money go? Into the pockets of politicians and their allies. This tear and blood that is still spilling will haunt each and every one responsible.”

peterkamweru516:

“The whole world is suffering from joblessness. What’s most important is to seek God’s guidance. Go to Asia and you’ll realize how beautiful Kenya really is.”

Kenyan Gen Zs farewell message to mum

In another story, a Gen Z TikTok user, God Fao, sent his mother a heart-wrenching farewell message ahead of the protests in Nairobi.

He urged his mother not to cry for him if he failed to return home, saying he would have died trying.

He also left a touching message for his younger siblings, asking them to stay strong and keep faith in the future.
