K-Pop Demon Hunters’ Soundtrack Stays in Billboard Top 5 for Fourth Week, Dominates Melon Charts

Billboard 200 Chart Performance of “K-Pop Demon Hunters” OST

The original soundtrack (OST) for Netflix’s animated film “K-Pop Demon Hunters” has continued to make waves on the Billboard 200 chart. In its fourth week, the album maintained a strong presence in the Top 5, showcasing its sustained popularity and appeal among music fans.

According to a preview article from Billboard, the OST ranked No. 5 on the Billboard 200, marking a slight drop of three spots from the previous week. However, this position is still impressive given the competitive nature of the chart. The album initially debuted at No. 8 in its first week and climbed to No. 3 in the second week. It reached a personal best at No. 2 during its third week, highlighting its consistent growth.

Billboard’s ranking system considers traditional sales, streaming equivalent albums (SEA), and track equivalent albums (TEA). For the latest charting week, the “K-Pop Demon Hunters” OST recorded 85,000 album units, reflecting a 14% increase from the previous week. This performance makes the album unique, as it is the only soundtrack since Billboard began including album units in December 2014 to debut in the Top 10 and then see an increase in units for three consecutive weeks.

Streaming and Sales Breakdown

SEA accounted for 79,000 units, up 14% from the previous week. Physical album sales also saw a 13% increase, reaching 5,000 units. Additionally, track equivalent albums (TEA) grew by 10%, totaling 1,000 units.

The soundtrack’s streaming count during the week reached 109.53 million, which marks the highest weekly figure for an OST since “Encanto” in March 2022, which logged 114.67 million during its seventh week at No. 1. This achievement underscores the massive reach and engagement of the “K-Pop Demon Hunters” OST.

Domestic Success on Melon

In South Korea, the OST also dominated the major streaming platform Melon’s Top 100 chart. The songs “Golden” and “Soda Pop” secured the top two positions, highlighting the soundtrack’s strong performance in the local market. This success comes amid a fiercely competitive summer K-pop landscape, where new releases often face stiff competition.

Other Notable Performances

In addition to the “K-Pop Demon Hunters” OST, other K-pop acts also made their mark on the Billboard 200. TWICE’s fourth full-length album, “This Is For,” debuted at No. 6 with 80,000 album units, marking the group’s seventh Top 10 entry on the chart. ATEEZ’s “Golden Hour: Part.3” re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 7 following the release of a new version titled “In Your Fantasy Edition.”

These performances reflect the continued global influence of K-pop and the growing interest in its music across different platforms and markets. As more international audiences discover and engage with K-pop content, the genre continues to expand its reach and impact.
