Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa faced criticism following her “haunting” reply to a constituent worried about potential healthcare reductions in the GOP’s budget proposal. Now, instead of genuinely apologizing, she has issued what many see as a mock apology.
The Iowa Republican conducted a town hall meeting on Friday morning in Parkersburg, during which she frequently voiced her exasperation with agitated citizens pressing for explanations regarding suggested reductions in Medicaid and food stamp provisions. Additionally, some attendees posed direct queries concerning Congress’s efforts to exert checks on President Donald Trump’s authority.

On Saturday, Ernst addressed the backlash with a video that initially seems like an apology, only to take a sudden twist later on.
She stated, ‘I mistakenly assumed that everybody in the room knew we will all eventually cease to exist on this planet.’ Therefore, I offer my apologies. Additionally, I am incredibly relieved that I didn’t have to mention the topic of the tooth fairy.’
“However, for those who wish to experience an eternal and everlasting existence, I urge you to welcome my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,” she said additionally.
