Italy’s Rural Hack Teams With Agrihouse Foundation

As part of a groundbreaking initiative to open up opportunities and creatively enhance young people’s participation in our food systems, Ghana’s Agrihouse Foundation and Italy’s Rural Hack have formed a long-term strategic collaboration designed to enable youth to spearhead the development of sustainable, inclusive, and creative agrifood solutions and methods.

The partnership aims to develop a new group of young leaders and innovators in Africa and Europe who are prepared to tackle upcoming issues and take advantage of fresh prospects in the agricultural and food industry.

It also emphasizes building meaningful connections that bring young individuals from different backgrounds together, allowing them to access and utilize global knowledge, cutting-edge technologies, hands-on skills, and an entrepreneurial network, which can help them play a significant role in shaping the future of food.

In a statement, Alex Giordano, the Founder and Scientific Director of Rural Hack, as well as the Director of the FoodSystem 5.0 Summer School, shared his positive outlook on the partnership with the Agrihouse Foundation.

Africa is rapidly adopting innovation, digital technologies, and youth-driven approaches in agriculture,” he stated. “We view the Agrihouse Foundation as a key driver in this change, actively supporting the emerging leaders in the agrifood sector. Their dedication to making a difference at the community level and empowering young people strongly aligns with our goals at Rural Hack.

Through collaboration with the Agrihouse Foundation, we are confident that we can create a more significant effect not only throughout Africa but also on an international level. United, we are building the groundwork for more inclusive, robust, and creative agricultural food systems that focus on young individuals as key drivers of enduring transformation.

Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, the Executive Director of Agrihouse Foundation and winner of the 2024 AgriFood Future Prize, shared her enthusiasm for the extended collaboration with Italy’s Rural Hack, noting that this represents a key turning point in the development path of Agrihouse Foundation.

It marks a significant achievement and reflects a substantial growth opportunity for the Agrihouse Foundation, one that corresponds with our long-term goal of increasing our influence throughout Africa and extending our presence worldwide,” she stated. “It enables us to expand our programs targeting young people, enhance our knowledge exchange platforms, and participate in international partnerships that introduce new resources, viewpoints, and technologies to the African agri-food sector.

She pointed out that the collaboration will enable the Agrihouse Foundation to speed up its initiatives in creating a dynamic flow of young agribusiness leaders, particularly enhancing the effectiveness of several of its current projects and activities, like the Agricultural Students Career Guidance and Mentorship Bootcamp.

Throughout our journey, we have been guided by the conviction that when youth are provided with the necessary skills, attitudes, and chances, they can reshape food systems. This collaboration with Rural Hack offers us the means to strengthen and showcase these initiatives, incorporate top global methods, and create fresh avenues for guidance, creativity, and educational interaction.

Having Rural Hack already demonstrating impressive examples in involving young people and promoting agricultural innovation, we are enthusiastic about learning from these experiences. We are also keen to share the achievements of our local models, and collectively, create a more robust and connected agri-food future not only for Ghana or Africa, but for the entire world.

Collaborating with Alex Giordano and the Rural Hack group is motivating. Their commitment matches our goal of turning agriculture into a field of innovation, empowerment, and genuine possibility.

We aim to establish the groundwork for a future in which agriculture fosters progress, not only in policy but also on our farms, within our communities, and in digital environments.

This collaboration will focus on programs, projects, and events aimed at supporting women and youth-led organizations in agritech, artificial intelligence within agriculture, digital innovations, and technology, with the goal of providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and opportunities to succeed in today’s agrifood industry.
