Is the New Ram Truck’s 10-Year, 100K Mile Warranty Only a Limited-Time Offer?

The new Ram trucks 10 year 100k warranty has sparked a lot of discussion and now the official details reveal it is actually a limited-time offer.

Ram trucks 10 year 100k warranty

If you missed the news,
Ram trucks made the announcement
earlier this week that it was extending its current limited powertrain warranty from 5 years or 60,000 miles to 10 years or 100,000 miles. Cummins diesel warranties already have a 100,000 mile warranty, however, they were only warrantied to 5 years and will now be at 10 years.

The 5 years or 60,000 miles is a pretty standard warranty period for all automakers.

This warranty covers major items like engine, transmission and axles.

Limited time offer?

Ram sent a document to all dealers detailing the warranty and we received a copy from the
Mark Dodge dealership
in Lake Charles, LA. The warranty coverage is pretty identical to the same language for the 5 year or 60,000 mile coverage for items it covers.

However, there are a few items that stood out for us.

First, the document states eligible sales types include:

  • Retail purchase (Type 1/B) or lease (Type L/E) of an eligible vehicle. Must take Retail Delivery by 09/02/2025 to be eligible for this offer.

Yes, must take retail delivery by 9/02/2025 to be eligible for this new warranty offer.

Second, this offer applies only to the first owner of a 2026 model year truck. Subsequent owners will fall back to the 5 year or 60,000 mile warranty coverage.

This also implies that if you miss the window to be eligible for the 10/100k mile warranty you will receive the 5/60,000 mile warranty.

Our take

Ram sales, CEO Tim Kuniskis says, are just fine with retail sales on pace and heavy duty truck sales holding steady. The real issue is the lack of commercial trucks being built and that’s why sales volume is down.

If that’s the case, then why this limited warranty campaign as a sales tactic to get more 2026 sales sold right off the bat? Why not run the campaign for the entire model year and really put pressure on rival companies to match the warranty?

Things are moving fast at Ram with the Ram 2500, 3500, chassis cab and vans initially not part of the new warranty as of just a few weeks ago. Maybe this retail delivery deadline will change quickly as well? This will be one fun summer to watch things play out.
