This new movie, however, presents a different take on the character, making him more relatable and grounded.

His actions in the movie, including creating an army of “rage monkeys” to tarnish Superman’s reputation, draw parallels to real-life issues surrounding social media and misinformation.
While the movie was in development before recent political events, it’s hard not to see connections between Luthor’s actions and real-world policies. The film’s depiction of Luthor imprisoning politically inconvenient individuals in inaccessible pocket dimensions mirrors some of the controversial practices seen in detention camps.
