The Cowboys are accustomed to having Lamb, who has topped the team in receiving for the last four seasons. His arrival has generated excitement regarding the passing game, including from Schottenheimer, who was enthusiastic about watching the two together during practice on Tuesday.

Pickens is entering his third season in the NFL, having recorded 59 receptions for 900 yards and three touchdowns with the Steelers in 2024. Lamb is preparing to begin his sixth year with the Cowboys and has topped the team in receiving yards with 1,000 or more in each of the last four seasons.

There is significant excitement about the arrival of Pickens along with the return of the quarterbackDak Prescottdue to injury. Owners and supporters are optimistic that the passing attack could become one of the most effective in recent times following last year’s underwhelming 7-10 record.

It’s also a significant year for Schottenheimer, as he becomes the head coach following three seasons in the role of offensive coordinator. He steps in to replace Mike McCarthy.

The passage of time will reveal if all the adjustments made this off-season were effective, but the enthusiasm is evident, as it should be at this point in the year. The Cowboys will proceed through training camp before their opening preseason game, set for August 9 against the Los Angeles Rams.

CeeDee Lamb about George Pickens: ‘We work together very effectively’

Lamb is excited to have a talent like Pickens in the receiver room alongside him. The receiver mentioned in May which aspect of Pickens’ game interests him the most about the opportunity to play together, but he couldn’t identify just one.

“Everything,” Lamb saidHis attitude. All that he contributes. Strong threat capability. Capable of blocking. And the energy he brings to the game. We work together very effectively.

After Lamb, Jalen Tolbertwas the second top receiver for the Cowboys in 2024 and recorded just 49 receptions for 610 yards and seven touchdowns. He and Pickens are expected to now line up with Lamb, forming what appears to be a more formidable group of wide receivers.
