Honda Shine 100 DX Launches, Bookings Open Aug 1

Honda Shine 100 DX Unveiled in India

Honda has introduced the Shine 100 DX in the Indian market, marking its second offering in the 100cc segment. This new model is aimed at reinforcing Honda’s presence in a market that accounts for nearly 29% of the total motorcycle sales. The bookings for this motorcycle will start from August 1, signaling the company’s strategic move to capture a larger share of the 100cc segment.

Targeting the Lower End of the Market

The Shine 100 DX is specifically designed for the lower end of the 100cc motorcycle market, which constitutes about 70% of the overall 100cc segment. Honda claims that the new model is tailored for Indian roads, particularly catering to rural areas where durability and practicality are key factors.

Design Enhancements

The Shine 100 DX boasts a refreshed design compared to its predecessor, the Shine 100. At the front, it features a newly designed headlamp with chrome accents, giving it a premium look. The profile is enhanced by a sculpted, wide fuel tank that showcases the iconic Honda branding.

The body panels of the Shine 100 DX are adorned with graphics, adding visual appeal. It also includes a long seat that ensures maximum comfort for both the rider and the pillion passenger. Additionally, the engine and grab rail are all-black, creating a striking contrast. The motorcycle will be available in four color options: Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Grey Metallic.

Key Features

In terms of features, the Shine 100 DX comes equipped with an LCD digital instrument cluster that provides real-time information on mileage, distance to empty (range), and service due indicators. It also includes a side stand engine cut-off feature, enhancing safety.

On the hardware side, the Shine 100 DX features telescopic front forks and 5-step adjustable rear shock absorbers for a smooth ride. The braking system consists of drum brakes at both ends, complemented by Honda’s Combined Brake System (CBS) for improved safety. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch tubeless tyres and offers a ground clearance of 168 mm.

Specifications

The Shine 100 DX is powered by the same 98.98cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that powers the Shine 100. This engine delivers 7.2 bhp of power at 7500 RPM and 8.04 Nm of peak torque at 5000 RPM. It is paired with a 4-speed gearbox and incorporates Honda’s eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology for better performance and efficiency.

With its updated design, advanced features, and robust specifications, the Honda Shine 100 DX is poised to make a significant impact in the Indian motorcycle market. The model is expected to attract a wide range of buyers looking for a reliable and stylish 100cc motorcycle.
