A Major Milestone for Honda in India
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has marked a significant milestone by celebrating 25 years of successful operations in the country. To commemorate this achievement, the company launched two new motorcycles: the CB125 Hornet and the Shine 100 DX. These launches highlight HMSI’s dedication to innovation and its focus on delivering advanced mobility solutions that cater to the needs of Indian riders.
Celebrating a Double Achievement
In his remarks during the event, Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President, and CEO of HMSI, emphasized the importance of this moment. “Today is a key chapter in HMSI’s journey in India. As we celebrate 25 years of operation, I am proud to unveil not just one but two new motorcycles that reflect Honda’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric values. The introduction of the CB125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX reaffirms our promise of bringing high-tech mobility solutions to the Indian market. This celebration also aligns with Honda’s global achievement of producing 500 million units and HMSI reaching 70 million production milestones. Introducing the CB125 Hornet
Designed for urban youth, the CB125 Hornet features an aggressive street-inspired design, all-LED lighting, and a muscular fuel tank. It is powered by a 123.94cc fuel-injected engine that delivers 10.99bhp at 7500 rpm and 11.2Nm at 6000 rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle offers a class-leading 0-60 km/h time of 5.4 seconds and a kerb weight of 124 kg, ensuring agile performance and smooth handling.
The CB125 Hornet comes equipped with tech-savvy features such as a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, Honda RoadSync app integration, and a USB Type-C charging port. Safety features include a petal front disc, single-channel ABS, and an engine stop switch. The model is available in four dual-tone color options, including Pearl Siren Blue with Lemon Ice Yellow and Pearl Siren Blue with Sports Red.
Launching the Shine 100 DX
Building on the success of the Shine series, the Shine 100 DX offers updated styling, new graphics, and comfort-focused features tailored for the commuter segment. It is powered by a 98.98cc fuel-injected engine that produces 7.28bhp at 7500 rpm and 8.04Nm at 5000 rpm, paired with a 4-speed transmission. Honda’s Enhanced Smart Power (eSP) technology ensures improved fuel efficiency and refined performance.
The Shine 100 DX includes a long seat, a new digital LCD instrument cluster with real-time mileage and range indicators, and a side-stand engine cut-off feature. It also features telescopic front forks, rear adjustable shock absorbers, a CBS braking system, and 168mm ground clearance, making it suitable for Indian road conditions. Available in three color options—Imperial Red Metallic, Geny Grey Metallic, and Athletic Blue Metallic—the model is set to attract a wide range of riders.
Availability and Future Outlook
Both the CB125 Hornet and the Shine 100 DX will be available for booking starting August 1, 2025, through HMSI dealerships across the country. This launch marks a new phase in Honda’s journey in India, reflecting its ongoing commitment to innovation, customer satisfaction, and technological advancement in the motorcycle industry.
