Honda CB125 Hornet Unveiled: A New Addition to the 125cc Segment
Honda has introduced a new model in its 125cc motorcycle lineup, the CB125 Hornet, alongside the Shine 100 DX. This latest offering is part of Honda’s strategy to cater to young buyers while maintaining its strong presence in the 125cc segment, where it holds a 45% market share. Bookings for the CB125 Hornet are set to begin from August 1.
Yogesh Mathur, Director of Sales and Marketing at Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, emphasized that the CB125 Hornet is designed to redefine the premium commuter space within the 125cc category. The model combines the legacy of the CB series with the distinct identity of the Hornet brand, promising advanced styling and innovative features.
Design Highlights of the CB125 Hornet
The CB125 Hornet features a bold front fascia complemented by an all-LED lighting system. This includes a signature twin-LED headlamp with LED DRLs and high-mounted LED turn indicators. On the side profile, the motorcycle boasts a muscular fuel tank with sharp tank shrouds and a stylish muffler.
Targeting young Indian buyers, the CB125 Hornet comes in four color options with contrasting shades. These include Pearl Siren Blue with Lemon Ice Yellow, Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Siren Blue with Athletic Blue Metallic, and Pearl Siren Blue with Sports Red.
Features and Hardware
In terms of technology, the CB125 Hornet is equipped with a 4.2-inch TFT display that supports Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility with the Honda RoadSync app. Riders can access navigation, call and SMS alerts, and music playback using a headset through the TFT display. The screen can be controlled via switches on the left handlebar.
The motorcycle also features a universal USB Type-C charging port, allowing riders to charge their devices while on the move. Additional safety features include an engine stop switch, a side-stand indicator with an engine inhibitor, and a single-channel ABS.
On the hardware side, the CB125 Hornet is fitted with USD front forks and a 5-step adjustable mono-shock. It also includes multi-spoke alloy wheels and a split seat setup for enhanced comfort for both the rider and pillion passenger. Braking is handled by a 240mm petal disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear.
Performance Specifications
Powering the CB125 Hornet is the same 123.94cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine found in the Honda SP125. However, this engine delivers 11 bhp at 7500 RPM and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6000 RPM. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is claimed to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds, making it the fastest in its class.
